Allset Energy attended the Smart Energy Expo 23. Here’s what we learnt
The recent Smart Energy Conference in Sydney delivered a standout program of industry and government thought leaders, like the Hon. Chris Bowen MP, discussing the opportunities and challenges Australia faces to achieve its 2030 carbon emissions targets. Allset Energy was represented by Niki B, Head of Business Operations, and Ben L, Business Development Manager. Here are their key takeouts from the event:
- Australia will need an incremental 60 million solar panels, 40 wind turbines and 10-14 times the current energy storage capacity in order to meet anticipated energy demand and Net Zero targets set.
- 1GW of BESS now deployed in market; this is just the tipping point for Australia though with another 40GW in potential projects being considered! Batteries are predicted to be the main source of dispatchable capacity by 2030, and specifically long-duration BESS is key to unlocking this.
- 87% of renewable investors are shopping for ‘climate capital’ with investment demand outstripping supply. Connecting the two is key to accelerating deployment at scale.
